Google ranking factors
In this period I’m studying how Google ranks webpages. As Google explains, the algorithm is still secret and in continuous change, but we know it uses more than 200 signals, one of the most important being PageRank.
Searching for more information about ranking, I found out it’s a very complex mechanism, but there are some factors which affect search engine rankings and some On Page optimization techniques. I also discovered that Google is ranking pages in new ways which are evolving continuously.
Above all I found these various confirmed and suspected Google Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Rules. It’s a good way to make your website visible in the web.
Moreover it’s important to not confuse Pagerank Bar on Google Toolbar with Search Engine Rankings, as explained in this funny post.
And now some personal considerations. I’ve got a personal website, online since 2005. Google has never indexed it even if it’s linked from a huge number of places. I found out the problem was in the framed page: when a search engine crawler encounters a framed page, it indexes only the main frame, not all of the framed pages. I solved this problem using the noframes tag, as explained here, and used the occasione to improve my pagerank applying what I have just learned.
The strange thing is that although Yahoo! Search and even MSN Search has indexed my personal website, Google doesn’t. It’s a mockery to know this if you think I have adjusted my website just for Google, adding my URL to Google and also using Google webmasters tools.
Moreover I noticed that Google’s crawler is slower than other search engines’ ones like Yahoo! or Altavista. I still don’t know why. Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Maybe it’s not.

I dunno, Google crawlers seem to work better only if you upload a Sitemap or something.

Yep, maybe you are right Swifty. Indeed I have uploaded a Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tool using the Google Sitemaps Generator Plugin for Wordpress to generate it, and now Google crawlers seems to work better. But maybe it’s just an accident..
