Yahoo! buys MyBlogLog. What will happen now?

From The MyBlogLog Blog.

Todd, John, Steve, Scott and I are pleased to announce that Yahoo! has brought MyBlogLog into the fold.

What will happen now?

Yahoo! is going to put loads of resources into MyBlogLog and help us roll out a ton of new features. Plus, we’re moving to their infrastructure, which should help with those occasional slowdowns.

We are not going to become one of those corporate casualties that never make another step forward. We are hard at work on the custom communities and soon everyone will be able to skin their community to look like their own blog or site.

Well, great!! There are some interesting new features coming up! Moreover they have in mind to expand the potential user base significantly by allowing users to log in with their Yahoo IDs.

I’m curious to know how they will solve the spam issue.

It’s for sure now MyBlogLog have better resources and infrastructure now.
But most web2 sites are sold as soon as they come to limelight.
As if these are crafted masterpieces to be sold to rich buyers. I think this is not a very good sign for entrepreneurs.
And the main reason for this is that these sites lack core business requirment while developing their models.
Ebay, Amazon and many, which were self-sustaining and had good business foundation, are successful. We all know how much Yahoo eyed on Ebay, was never successful to own it and was never able to compete Ebay with its Yahoo shopping.
Though Yahoo is too good in business and would keep as peppier, lively and not spoil the mood. Hope so as MyBlogLog team has joined Yahoo to take it forward.

I think when you look at the other social stuff that Yahoo! have, then all kinds of things become possible.

What about your Yahoo! page, linking in with your MyBlogLog.

Along with adding your Communities and other peoples Communities to Del.icio.us.

Along with adding your Contacts to your Yahoo! Messenger accounts.

Along with tying in your information ‘blog to your Yahoo! Answers account.

Then what about offering all of this as Mashups to include in your ‘blog.

Believe, there’s no end of things that can be done, here…

Divya, I agree with you. It seems that some good projects come to life to be acquired. It seems that Ebay and Amazon are just the exceptions that prove the rule.
Anyway I think MyBlogLog needed to be acquired. Why? Well, because MyBlogLog actually needs to be improved, and they need some help. Moreover MyBlogLog will benefit of better resources and coming integrations. Wayne has mentioned some items of the endless list of them.

But first of all, they ought to hold the spam.
