In my wordpress dashboard I read: “Akismet has protected your site from 11,256 spam comments.”. Considering what kind of comments were they… I really have to thank Askimet . You never want that stuff to be on your blog :s
Since Askimet treats me like spam, I don’t use it. In order to protect my blog from spam, a simple captcha plugin (such as Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam Image Plugin) had the same effect as Askimet. No moderation needed.

I recently had to move one of my clients to a new email host.
He was getting upwards of 20,000 unsolicited messages a day.
He was losing so much time to just clearing out the junk email he was getting, it was hurting his business.
In the end, I used a paid-for service (from an IT friend of mine) that cleanses in-bound email and the whole problem went away literally over night.
The moral of this story? Never, ever list your email address on your website, or anywhere else it’s likely to be listed in the open…

917 spam messages in a month are over 30 spam messages a day! I could not survive like that!
