«The Camino Project has worked to create a browser that is as functional and elegant as the computers it runs on. The Camino web browser is powerful, secure, and ready to meet the needs of all users while remaining simple and elegant in its design.»

Camino is an open source browser for Mac. I have discovered Camino just some hours ago and now it is already my default browser: I still don’t realize how fast I can surf on the internet now!! Have a look at Camino’s features.

Camino looks like Safari but it was built on the same technology as Firefox. But Camino is faster than Firefox even if it could be considered limited regarding add-ons. But take a look at PimpMyCamino and you’ll have no doubt: Camino will be your default browser on your Mac. For example, if you are looking for that lovely del.icio.us extension you used in Firefox, try Caminicious and you will save your bookmarks with a click!!

Just a thing: why do Camino’s default preferences about Command click on links is setting to open a new windows instead of a new tab? And why not in background? I think most part of users prefer opening new tabs than new windows… in background. Or is it just my personal taste?

I don’t know where Camino’s name comes from, but the word “camino” means “fireplace” in italian language. But I think it’s spanish where it means “way” or “path”… that is more reasonable :P

I used iWeb 1.0 to create my photogallery, but by using iWeb you can create an entire website in very few steps and you don’t need to know a lick of HTML! If compared to FrontPage or Dreamweaver, iWeb is from another world. Unfortunately iWeb 1.0 was designed for the .Mac world: to publish (and especially to update) a website to another web host could be hard-working. Fortunately there’s a great free tool called Easy iWeb Publisher that allows Mac users without .mac subscriptions to upload sites created with iWeb to any web host by just dragging and dropping.

I actually think that the future is the opportunity (for beginners) to create websites on the Internet. Web 2.0 allows this. Take a look at Google Page Creator, Sitekreator and Synthasite, for example.

And above all I have to point out Weebly.
    (TechCrunch post about it)

Weebly is the easiest way to create a great looking website and share it with the world for free. From personal to professional sites, Weebly will enable you to spend your time on the most valuable part of your site, its content.

I think I’ll try Weebly very soon ;)

My primary computer is an Apple iBook G4 (powerpc chip). I never had problems with it. MACOSX Tiger is a great OS, based on UNIX so I can have fun and work too. I installed Linux too, using yaboot as boot loader. And I have about 5 hours of autonomy (they where 6 at the beginning).

The new MacBooks are cool. The primary feature is that they run Intel Core Duo chip. It’s surely faster, but the battery? Apple web site doesn’t say much about that. I know that a new MacBook “lives” at most 4 hours.

Moreover there where serious problems with MacBooks, like Mac Books Random Shutdown. Now seems that the recently released version 7 of iTunes is infested with bugs and someone suggest to do not upgrade to iTunes 7. I really hope that the new iPods will work fine ’cause I’d like to have one of them soon :P

Perhaps I talked too dirty about Apple. Now I try to put right pointing out these funny clips about mac&pc. They tell the truth. In italian too ;-)
